Put Your Toe on That Line!

Placing your toe on a line (a real line or a figurative one), is most basically boiled down to an act of aggression or defense (depends on the context), but it always is a statement of “I am right and you are wrong”.

I am very sad to report that more and more tweens, every single day, have put their toe over this invisible line. What used to be settled with scratching, punching, spitting, and toilet~papering lockers has crossed the line, at times, to homicide in the high school arena.

At some point in previous history one solitary kid (or kids) most likely, stepped over the line of guns in school and did what they had to do. Even if they were not sure it was the most correct, mature and best response. So, if we sit here and wait awhile…for justice to be served in this case….just how long must we wait? I ask all of you to scrutinize any and all activities that you are introduced to, invited to, and just plain attracted to untill this period of jungle/terroristic warfare is over. Here is to all of your family. God Speed. I do not know where this world is headed and I do not know what I will do or how I will react if our earth suddenly gives way…..but there is ONE THING I KNOW…and that is we MUST INVEST in friendships and relationships. I also believe that those who can dictate lightly can also (at the same time) have huge christian results (asofar unspeculated). Where they go after that is a question and one better answered in a dark room with a pocket~full of ‘extra-ribbed-trojans’.

Way to placate, UNC. Way to go. Just because the person who was slain is lilly white does not automaticaly move this case to a so called ‘random act of violence’.

This woman was killed sometime between 0130 and 0500. She, allegedly had already turned down invitations to go out with friends and roomies. So, sometime after 0130 she heeds someones call and heads out (to her death).

I argue that the killer is someone that she knew. It was personal. Why?

First of all, put yourself in the shoes of a carjacker. Are you going to steal a car (after shooting the driver in the head more than one time) and than just dump it a MILE from where you shot her up?

I bet there will be deep and reaching answers to logical questions in this case. We shall see. But let us not snow this over with titles and color, and station, and the like. We must be objective to work out the truth.

And the truth shall follow. It always has, and it always WILL.

Explosions in Waukegan, Illinois

Fox news is breaking a story of an explosion and fire at a mall. Details as of now are scant but I presume we can expect a flood of information very soon.

While certainly not related to events today, it seems that explosions and disasters are not something new in Waukegan.

As per a local news agency,
“The explosion happened at 1926 Grand Ave. in the northern suburb, a shopping plaza home to Tuxedo World, Cleopatra’s Unisex Hair Salon, Cellular Concepts and a travel agency.”

UPDATE:
Per another news agency, the explosion happened around noon today. Six people have been transported for medical care (conditions unknown). A gas company is on site (could this have been related to gas lines? Or is the company on scene to ensure safety of surrounding buildings per gas lines that could be at risk due to the fire currently raging).

UPDATE:
Gas man is at the site and it is leaning towards a, well, ‘gas’ faux pas. we shall see.

One In Every Hundred

Ready for a shocking figure? There is one person out of every 99.1 people in the United States in prison. That number, while shocking in itself, also lends itself to other woes. Namely, money. The US spent 49 billion bones last year on prisons.

I am a military spouse and currently live at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas where prisons are everywhere you look. Not only is the United States Disciplinary Barracks on post, but Leavenworth county Kansas hails 13 prisons including the United States Pen. If you click on the previous link please note the beautiful dome that towers over this facility. It is literally in my backyard. If I look out my back window and catch a glimpse of it sometimes my mind registers it as a presidential monument (which it isn’t) until I remember it is a prison (which it definitely is…ask Michael Vicks who currently has a room there). They actually have a pretty nice field to throw some football and a track too that I can see from my backdoor. It almost looks normal if you can block out the concertina wire and guard towers that watch over it like a gaggle of pissed-off lunch ladies.

So, one in every hundred people are in the big~house right this very second. I think it makes me feel safe…until I think some more.

Cutts Like a Knife

Bobby Cutts, Jr will be spending the next 57 years in jail as per the final ruling of a judge in Ohio.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing (the death penalty was on the table)?

As an ex-cop who killed his own baby will 57 years be worse than a quick and certain death? I tend to think that justice is best served up with Cutts on a platter in prison. As the b52′s said it best….”your own private Idaho….”… Cutts will surly be making his own private Idaho from here on out and it will not be pretty or fun where he is going.

(dis)Honorable Discharge

This story reminds me of that saying, “what is good for the goose is good for the gander”. It also reminds me that it is only a saying and not the way things sometimes work out in our military society as a part and courts of justice as a whole.

The gander in this story is former Navy Chief Edward E. Scott who served his country for 25 years. Edward also got busted for trying to entice two 12 year old girls to have sex with him. Ole’ Ed just so happened to be talking to undercover cops and not minors and he got taken to court. This should have cooked his goose but he was made into a chicken dinner instead. His punishment: 9 months in prison and three years of sexual deviancy treatment and registration as a sex offender; demotion to the rank of chief petty officer and an honorable discharge and retirement with full military benefits.

Wait…back up….the nine months of prision and the deviancy training…yes….I get that. Demotion in rank…check…that is normal SOP. But hold on here……an honorable discharge and full retirement benefits? What is this world coming to?

Some talking heads have noted that this was due to his 25 years of service to Country and possible national security information he has knowledge of. Bull shit.

As a spouse of a field grade Army officer I do not want my child or any child for that matter, to sit in the waiting room of a medical clinic (where retirees can also be treated) or stand in line at the commissary (another retirement benefit) with a registered sex offender that has no business receiving tax dollars that fund his retirement. I don’t want a person like this to have access to military installations where he can easily watch children on playgrounds, at schools, or after school centers. I don’t want the gate guards saluting this man as he drives onto posts and bases.

The decision in this case is a slap in the face to all of us who serve honorably and bleed for this country. It is a miscarriage of justice that could pose a threat to our military children that are already going through enough in this climate of war.

It also does not speak well for any other soldiers who recieved different punishment for the same crime. If Ed were a specialist or a private I garuntee you he would have DIS before honorable in his discharge paperwork. WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE GOOSE SHOULD BE GOOD FOR THE GANDER…even if the gander are wearing a few more bars, stars, or stripes!

Is this a story of black vs white or male vs female sexual predators and how they are viewed and dealt with in our society? I tend to side with the latter in that Allenna Ward received only six years in jail for raping children (note the plural). The fact that the children were all african american also shouldn’t be lost in this South Carolina case, but in my opinion, it is not the heart of the judicial travesty here.

Allenna Ward, a young teacher in South Carolina, raped boys. She is a white, pretty, and sweet spoken. If this monster was a man what would the sentence have been? I am left wondering here.
